When Pigs Fly
In my first book, The Monster Stick, there is a story called “With God as My Witness.” I tried for a long time to tell this tale,
but it did not work until I created the library scene at the beginning of the book. Dr. Toast, like Alicia in the Teacher story, gives the story more depth. The Turtle II, the submarine in the story, was quite real, and built by one of my best friends. I was not—thank heavens—included in the test runs on the Turtle II.
